Last meeting: October 6th 2021

Outline

  1. XRD-CT / ID15A updates
  2. Full-field updates

Presenter Notes

1. XRD-CT / ID15A updates

Presenter Notes

1. XRD-CT / ID15A updates

Re-work the integrator software for distributing azimuthal integration.

  • Improve usability
  • Re-work output files layout to fit ID15A needs
  • Automatic re-allocation of SLURM resources
  • Tested on large collection of datasets

Some issues still to be addressed.

Presenter Notes

1. XRD-CT / ID15A updates: some figures

  • Reading data is done at 1.1 GB/s
    • For ID15A pilatus detector (1475x1679), this means 110 frames per second
    • Bottleneck is LZ4 decompression - can certainly be sped up (up to a factor 2)
  • Performing azimuthal integration is done at
    • 40-70 FPS for using CPU (10 cores/worker)
    • 300 FPS using GPU

So for now, we should target computing resources able to reach 110 FPS.

Presenter Notes

1. Full-field updates

Presenter Notes

1. Full-field updates

Updates on the nabu processing software

  • Some fixes in the full-field pipeline (thanks Ludovic Broche, Benoit Cordonnier)
  • Add support for tiff3D ("big tiff")
  • Make nabu work on new gpid16axni machines (add support for Cuda 11)
  • New sitching method for half-tomography
    • Ongoing quality assessment of this new method

Known issues

  • Abysmal performances for loading EDF datasets. Tried with silx and fabio

Work in progress

  • Helical tomography pipeline (Alessandro)
